Marissa Gawel is a writer and photographer who’s reported on local and national issues for Detroit’s NPR station, collected oral histories in Detroit for a Tribeca Film Institute co/lab, and received a grant from National Geographic to document the stories behind roadside attractions.

She’s continued her work documenting these spaces as a contributor to SPACES archives, an organization dedicated to the documentation and preservation of large-scale art environments.
